Sotheby’s has announced the launch of its global luxury division which will be headed up by Maarten ten Holder as global Managing Director. According to Sotheby’s, the new Luxury & Lifestyle Division will bring together the categories of jewelry, watches, wine, cars, and experiences, as well as the relationship with Sotheby’s International Realty, under one senior executive.
Maarten ten Holder was most recently based in London, where he was the Managing Director of Sotheby’s operations in Europe, the Middle East, India, and Africa. Prior to his post in London, he held leadership positions at Sotheby’s in New York, Milan, and Amsterdam. He will relocate to New York from London, with his appointment effective immediately.
Maarten ten Holder said that he is thrilled to be stepping into the new role at the head of the new Luxury & Lifestyle division. “Each of these businesses operates in a market even larger than the art market, and I am excited to lead our strategic effort to fashion our talented teams into a stronger foundation for Sotheby's growth,” he said.
